Explore Sedona culture from our resort

Sedona is an arts and cultural mecca, and we put you right in the middle of it. Countless galleries feature works from diverse artists, including surrealist painter Max Ernst and Joe Beeler, who co-founded the Cowboy Artists of America in a little bar half a block from Amara Resort & Spa.

Sedona is more than a pretty face. Other cultural endeavors abound. For example, The Sedona Heritage Museum is dedicated to the local area and features over 3,000 artifacts and 30,000 historic photographs (not to mention an orchard and picnic areas). From classical music at Chamber Music Sedona to the annual Red Rocks Music Festival… from monthly play readings exploring social issues at Red Earth Theatre to the Sedona Film Festival… why, prehistoric ceramics research is even conducted at the Verde Valley Archeology Center. Of all the hotels near Sedona arts, ours is the perfect combination of tucked away and steps away.

One-of-a-kind Sedona shops are close by

Three of our favorite shopping enclaves are minutes away from the resort — and bursting with jewelry, artwork, clothing, home decor and other temptations for your suitcase. All three treat you to magnificent Red Rock views.

Uptown Sedona: A short walk leads you to Uptown Sedona, a shopping plaza filled with eclectic shops and varied dining — all while surrounding you with outdoor sculptures, artsy fountains and floral blooms.

Hillside Sedona: Art galleries, specialty boutiques and award-winning restaurants greet you at Hillside Sedona, about 10 minutes from Amara Resort & Spa.

Tlaquepaque: Tlaquepaque (pronounced teh-LOCK-key-POCK-key) reflects the flavor, sights and sounds of Old Mexico. Stroll cobblestoned streets past vine-covered stucco walls and dramatic arched entryways as you explore one-of-a-kind shops, galleries and restaurants.

Grand Canyon vacations begin here

Few things in life will leave you as speechless as the Grand Canyon. Roughly a two-hour drive from the resort, the South Rim offers the most ways to experience this natural wonder: by raft, helicopter, airplane, motorcoach, Jeep, bikes or even on the back of a mule.
